Full length front and rear mudguards offer the best defence against rain and wet roads, protecting your feet, legs and back from spray, not to mention anyone cycling behind you! We suggest you fit mudguards if using your bike all year round.
However, some road bikes/racers do not have space between the tyre and frame to fit a mudguard. In this situation we suggest you get a more sensible bike! If this is not an option, we recommend clip-on road mudguards.
A lot of mountain bikes do not have the fixing points to accept full-length mudguards, and the tyre clearances required by suspension travel and build-up of mud limit the options. The best mudguards in this situation are Crud Guards.

Good quality chromoplastic mudguards. Combination plastic/metal brackets made from rust-proof stainless steel. Ideal for most commuter, hybrid and urban mountain bikes. Will fit 26" or 700c size wheels. Three widths available for different tyre sizes.

£25 (F+R set)
Heavy-duty touring mudguards made from thicker chromoplastic. Quality all-metal brackets made from rust-proof stainless steel. Ideal for hybrids, trekking and touring bikes where maximum strength and reliability are required.
Normally in stock in silver; available to order in black.
£24 F+R set
The same chromoplastic material as the full-length mudguards, but designed to fit racing bikes with minimal clearance between tyre and frame or brake. Quick-release for easy removal when not required. Compatible with aero-shaped seat stays and fork blades. Black.
Made from tough, flexible, recyclable polypropylene plastic, these are ideal for most full-on mountain bikes. Although they don't offer quite as much protection as full-length mudguards, they allow much greater tyre clearances, work fine with full suspension bikes, and are quick and easy to fit and remove.
£10 per pair
Also known as dress guards or coat guards, these fit over the rear wheel to prevent long, loose-fitting clothing getting caught in the spokes. Compatible with most hybrids and city bikes, but must be fitted in conjunction with a rear mudguard.
