Car-free, carbon-free transport policy

Looking forward to a post peak-oil world!

Jake's Bikes does not own a car or delivery van. Wherever possible stock runs and bicycle collections are done using a bicycle and bike trailer.

On the two occasions in the last four years when we have had to use a van we have hired Green Move, a local removals company who use a solar-powered milk float and a recycled vegetable oil powered van.

Inevitably a lot of our stock has to some from suppliers all over the UK, and unfortunately the courier companies they employ use normal Diesel vans. However, old components are re-used wherever possible in preference to buying new in order to minimise the amount of stock which has to be bought.
