Gift Vouchers

Gift VouchersIf your Christmas present budget won't quite stretch to a whole bicycle, why not get some gift vouchers instead? They can be put towards the cost of a bike, or parts and accessories. They can also be used to purchase servicing or even pay for a tuition session.

See for more details, or just call us to buy some over the phone on 0117 329 7363.

Winter "Hubs & Headset" Service

Most wheel hub and headset bearings should be re-greased every year or two to ensure long life and reliability. Otherwise the bearings can become dry, or water can get in and cause corrosion.

We are currently offering a package where you can get the front and rear wheel bearings and the headset bearings checked, greased and adjusted for £30 in total.

Done separately, an individual hub or headset rebuild costs £20, so getting all three done together like this effectively works out half price. Replacing the headset or wheels is even more costly, so it can be well worth getting them done as preventative maintenance while they are still in good condition.

To get your bearings serviced, just give us a call on 0117 329 7363

Chain oilMAINTENANCE TIPS: what kind of chain oil is best?

Several types of oil are available.

  • Normal bike chain oil is a good choice for most commuters. It's fairly water-resistant and long-lasting. It can attract dirt if too much is used, but is fairly easy to clean off.

  • Wet-weather or extreme or all-condition mountain biking chain oil is a thicker lube which is more resistant to being washed off, but is very thick and sticky and attracts dirt very easily.

  • 'Dry' oil is thinner and evaporates to leave a low-friction coating (e.g. Teflon) which stays clean, but it is easily washed off so must be reapplied often and is most suited to dry weather.

  • 'Green Oil' is an eco-friendly option which lubricates the chain well, but must be reapplied fairly frequently and can become dry and sticky over time.

  • Sprays such as WD-40 are thin and evaporate quickly, leaving the chain unprotected.

For normal commuting use, conventional bicycle chain oil is a good choice as long as it is used sparingly and the chain is wiped off fairly regularly.
